The name MÉLANI is inspired by the Greek word melas, meaning dark and symbolising depth, strength, and understated elegance.

Established by self-taught designer Sofia Kapiris, the brand reflects over 15 years of experience within the fashion industry. Starting from humble beginnings, Sofia taught herself the foundations of design, pattern-making, and construction, guided by an instinctive understanding of the female form. She began as a custom designer, creating made-to-measure pieces and working closely with clients to refine fit, detail, and finish.

As her work gained recognition, she went on to dress a range of high-profile clientele, building a loyal following. What began as one-of-a-kind custom pieces naturally evolved into MÉLANI.

Every MÉLANI design is created and sampled in-house, ensuring a considered and uncompromising approach to fit, quality, and craftsmanship. With a focus on modern yet timeless silhouettes, each piece is designed to sculpt and define the body with intention.
